Our commitment to
the environment

Find out more about our carbon action plan and the
changes we’re making to reach net zero.

At Soldo, we have a responsibility to our customers, employees, and the planet. We believe we have a duty to preserve our natural world and lead the way with positive changes. That’s why we’ve established the Soldo Carbon Footprint Project and have committed to net zero emissions for all companies that are part of the Soldo Group by 2050.

We started our net-zero journey in 2022 and have already activated measures to reduce our emissions and will continue to explore ways to becoming carbon neutral through various company initiatives.

Soldo has a dedicated programme team made up of passionate individuals from across our business, and they’re working hard to continue this important task.

Where are we now?

We are in the third year of our programme and in the next phase of reducing our footprint as a business.

Our 2023 operational footprint including Scope 1, Scope 2 and a subset of Scope 3 categories* totalled 623 t CO₂ and can be seen in the diagram below.

What have we offset already?

  • Our 2021 scope 1 emissions have been removed through investing in reforestation of farmlands in Uganda
  • Our 2022 scope 1 and scope 2 emissions have been removed through investing in a hydropower plant based near Virunga National Park in the eastern part of the Congo to support renewable energy
  • We have also purchased green electricity for the last 2 years through procuring energy attribute certificates

What we’re already doing to reduce our emissions

We’ve already started work to minimise our carbon footprint:

  • All our leased offices now use renewable energy electricity tariffs
  • Our cards are primarily made from recyclable pvc and we have introduced completely recyclable packaging for all our cards
  • We now conduct yearly commuting surveys which help track employee emissions related to commuting and remote work
  • We have adopted a sustainable business travel policy which encourages eco-friendly travel practices among our employees
  • We actively promote recycling practices within our offices
  • We offer a Cycle to Work scheme for all Soldo UK employees to help make commuting more environmentally friendly
  • Organising sustainability initiatives in our offices, as well as employee volunteering days to support carbon-reduction projects in the UK and Italy

Our next steps

  • Continue working towards carbon neutrality
  • Continue to organise sustainability initiatives in our offices, as well as employee volunteering days to support carbon-reduction projects in the UK and Italy
  • Expanding our schemes for environmentally friendly commute options
  • Integrate Climate Considerations into Procurement
  • Further investment in global projects to support offsetting
